Movie Review
So I got to see Tuck Everlasting. Not a very good movie… It’s based on the book by the same name (never heard of it…but I’m thinking you need to be in Jr. High or High School to have heard of it) about a girl who discovers a family that has a “big secret” and that “changes her life forever” wooo….. impressive huh? Not so much…
Great cast, Sissy Spacek, William Hurt, Ben Kingsely, Victor Garber, Amy Irving… But… the whole movie kinda fell flat. None of the characters really had any kind of true motivation for what they were doing. It all felt forced and a great deal of it all was very cliche. Many of the scene shots were cliche – picture a hangman’s noose, then pan in through the center of the noose onto the jail house….cut to – the prisoners in the cell…. yup… that’s what they did in this film. Then there’s the whole “good bye forever” scene where at the end you are looking down at the girl she’s on a dirt street in front of the jailhouse the wind is blowing around her, she’s just standing there her hair and nightgown flowing in the harsh wind…she’s all alone…. Yeah.. make me gag..been there done that… in GOOD movies.
The two young actors Alexis Bledel (of Gilmore Girls) and Jonathan Jackson (ex-Lucky from General Hospital) are good actors…but not in this. The dialogue is SOOO lame. “I’ll love you until the day I die.” “Don’t be afraid of death….be afraid of the unlived life.” blah blah blah!! It’s almost…. yes almost as bad as the latest installment of the Star Wars saga… it’s only slightly better than that piece of trash.
The poster says “A secret is about to be discovered – An adventure is about to begin” Well, the secret is easy to see but the adventure….never happened (at least on screen…perhaps they are referring to the adventure that they only mention but you never see??)
I don’t recommend you see this film try reading the book. Books are ALWAYS better than the movie.
