I’ve managed to make a couple of banners using Picnik that I’m pleased with. The banner I really liked is getting created by a friend who has Photoshop. Once she sends me that I may completely replace the rotating banners of Violet and Mark with that one. Although I do like seeing those rotate as I reload my page.
The old theme was pretty to look at, but there was so much going on, and with my little netbook screen the posts seemed very small to me. I think this is cleaner. Do you use WordPress? What is your favorite theme?
In other news I wrote a post for Chicago Bites about my lunch at Benny’s Chop House. It’s a good place for business lunches. Good food, nice and quiet so you don’t have to scream. Go see the pictures and read all about it. I like being the designated meat eater.
Speaking of designated person… I was the designated driver on last weekend’s Dark Lord Day. I drove the tribe out to 3 Floyd’s Brewery in Munster, IN. This year’s event was much better organized than last year. I enjoyed less crowds, the line to purchase your beer moved VERY fast and the catering of our little group by Carnwennan was AMAZING! Camping by the car or picnicking in the park with her is the best thing ever! Since my ticket was for group C, I spent most of the day hanging in the park across the street from the industrial park that houses 3 Floyd’s. It used to be a garbage dump but now it’s the prettiest park and they have a nice picnicking shelter. It was a fairly warm and sunny day. I really liked just being outside. Unfortunately most of my games are card games and with the wind that made playing the games I brought a challenge. But we were up for several rounds of Apples to Apples and we managed to make it work.
I’ve also recently discovered the TV show Weeds. I’ve made it through Season 4. I’ve now got to locate seasons 5 and 6 so I can be all caught up. During the closing credits of one episode I heard a very familiar song from a band I was recently introduced to, DeVotchKa, I’m pretty sure the song was Contrabanda. Awesome band, you should check them out.
Aside from my allergies kicking my ass, that’s all I’ve got for now.
