Stacks
So my latest project from “the Evil One” is to go through all these resumes we got for a position of “peon/slave/grunt” it is quite an amusing job. I’ve got 3 stacks going. There’s the obvious YES pile to my right. the MAYBE pile to my left and then on the floor is the NO pile. Anyone who can’t spell, has a name of someone we’ve already got too many of, or is asking for more money than I make goes in that pile.
The best candidate I’ve seen so far is a guy named Axel who speaks French and German. Was born in France, spent 6 years in Tunisia and 10 years in Germany as well as 5 years in Finland. He sounds so incredibly cool I think we should call him just to get him in here to see what he looks like and to listen to his “outrageous accent”. Others sound like porn stars and have made up sounding names. It’s decided, no more Patricias, Pats or Patties or Kristines with a K or a C or Chris or Larrys. No one who’s name sounds like Sabrina. It’s just too confusing for everyone here. And while we’re at it no one named Betty. It’s too close to Pattie if you’ve got a stuffy nose.
It is interesting to see how people write cover letters. I have to say though, if you’re going to write a cover letter and you say you like to proof read things, make sure you proof read your cover letter. Because if you’ve got any typos or spelling errors or even grammatical errors, they’re going to stand out more cuz you said you proof read things all the time. If you don’t proof read your cover letter, are you really going to proof anything else?
So far I’ve gone through 84 resumes and I’ve got over 300 left. I’m just glad I finally have an interesting project to work on.
