Wrapping up
The trip is winding down now. The last two days are ahead. Tomorrow we see the Vatican, an the next day is Pompeii. I’ve got about 150 pictures left on the beast of a camera, and about 2,000 on my little one. Nigel & Elvis have been given a warm welcome by the others in the group and one group member even found them a friend. things were touch and go at first. Somehow Nigel got me to release the bag the new gnome was in and it was left on the bus from Orvieto to the funicular. But the bus parked, and we were able to get back on and retrieve him. The whole group cheered when he was found, Nigel did’t appreciat that. When back on our tour bus, Nigel thought he’d put the smackdown on the new guy. But between Elvis and me we calmed him down, told Nigel that he’d always be our favorite gnome.
I have discovered that Espresso is rather addictive, and the after dinner shot makes it hard to fall asleep. Only one gelato stop was bad, if ever in Venice avoid any of the gelato in St. Mark’s Square. Get on the vaporetto and go to the other side of the place and find it. You wont regret it.
Florence was lovely, I got to see the painting, the Birth of Venus at the Uffrizi. Went into some lovely old churches. Went to Pisa an saw the leaning tower and the church and bapistry there. The dome on the Pisa baptistry creates this perfect sound system. It will echo your voice 12 times. The usher came in and sang a few notes on a scale and with the echo you could hear the perfect chord. Totally amazing. I’m hoping Yo Master D will be able to help out with the purchase I made in Pisa, or I’ll be a little ticked off. Once pictures are loaded you’ll see.
This internet point really needs to turn the heat on, my fingers are going numb.
It has been much colder than expected in each location. I’m a little ticked off at that.
The soundtrack for this trip has been the new Duran Duran song (it’s playing EVERYWHERE!) and the phrase is You Gotta Want It.
