China
Found this story via Boing Boing. Apparently, China will not allow Buddhist monks in Tibet to reincarnate unless they get government permission. I wonder how they proposed to enforce this law. It’s not like the government controls what you do after you die.
I realize this new law has nothing to do with actual reincarnation and everything to do with politics and religion and oppressing people in Tibet. But this is taking things a little bit too far. Now we’ll have two Dalai Lamas. The one appointed by the Chinese government and the one that all the Buddist monks believe is the real one, who wont be born in China.
What is going on with China? Their pet food was poisonous, their toys are poisonous and now they’re going to try to regulate reincarnation… it’s all making my brain hurt.
