Found Something
There was a survey done in which 40.4% of respondents aged 18-24 felt that of the choices of drugs, alcohol, obesity and smoking, obesity was the biggest health threat. It’s amazing to me that young people have been programmed to believe that being fat is more of a health risk than smoking, or doing crack or drinking until you puke every day of your life. I guess those kids feel that with the others you can quit when ever you want to avoid that health risk. I found the survey via Kate Harding’s Shapley Prose Kate has some great arguments as to why fat is in no way more of a health risk than any of the others. And in her comments she points toward this very interesting poll where people were trying to guess the weight of someone from a photo only. I did better with the people closer to my height, but some of them, I was just way off.
