Things Moving Has Taught Me

What I’ve Learned

It is very important to dust on a regular basis. If you’re packing and you don’t usually dust…make sure you have LOTS of tissues, if you suffer from allergies, take your medicine and a booster too.

You can never have too many boxes.

Once the TV is gone/disconnected/etc a lot of things will get done but you won’t be able to track the weather patterns.

As soon as you pack something, you’ll decide you need it.

It’s easier to pack if you say, “all of that stuff is trash” before going through it, when you’re friends are helping you….also, once you do that and the stuff is gone, you’ll realize there was something there you needed.

You really should label boxes on all sides.

Once the pets are gone…you’ll hear lots of strange noises.

Vacuuming is very important…behind and under things too.

You can’t disconnect your phone online (if you use MCI’s Neighborhood) you HAVE to call them, you can however disconnect the gas (People’s Gas) through the website.

You can set up your mail to forward through the US Postal Service website.

There are a lot of crazy people in this neighborhood that dig through the trash.

A hammer on particle board furniture is very loud.

Plastic silverware and paper plates are useful for eating when everything else is packed away.

Donuts make for a good dinner.

Mass quantities of trash bags are VITAL.

If you don’t want people to be able to track you down, don’t have your current phone forward to your new phone….and change your job too.

It’s hard to sleep the night before the movers arrive.
